What should happen before a DIALux freelancer receives project files?
The platform should identify the specialist, show the confidentiality rules, limit the material to a defined project purpose and record an explicit acknowledgement before raw plans, photometric files or customer documents become available. Access should then be private, time-limited and removable. Sending an unrestricted download link in a general message skips the most important control: deciding who may see what, why and for how long.
LuxHub's current public specialist portal is a fictional demo. It cannot access, create or update real records, and its specialist agreement is clearly marked for legal review before live onboarding. This article therefore describes the production safeguards LuxHub intends to require, not a claim that confidential customer files are already being distributed through a live worldwide marketplace.
Confidentiality must be an access gate, not a footer
A useful confidentiality step appears before the first sensitive download. It should explain that customer material is project-only, may not be shared or reused, and must be handled only for the accepted or previewed purpose. The specialist should know which documents are confidential, what may be retained for delivery, and when local copies must be removed or returned.
A generic website privacy notice is not the same thing. DIALux freelance work can expose building plans, luminaire selections, tender information, site photographs and operating details. The project record should connect the acknowledgement to the specialist account, the material version and the time of access so the rule can be applied to the actual handoff.
Preview enough to decide without exposing the whole project
A freelancer needs enough information to judge fit before committing: lighting category, approximate geometry, required outputs, governing criteria, expected effort, deadline, pricing route and a summary of the supplied materials. That does not automatically require the customer's identity, direct contact details or every raw file.
A staged preview reduces unnecessary exposure. The platform can first show a structured, non-identifying brief; release the minimum protected files needed for a serious review; and provide the complete authorised package only after the required acknowledgement or acceptance step. The exact sequence must match the project and applicable law, but the principle is consistent: disclose only what the decision genuinely needs.
Private links should be individual, expiring and replaceable
A protected link should be tied to the approved specialist account rather than shared as a reusable public URL. Its expiry should reflect the review or delivery window. If a link is forwarded, exposed or no longer needed, LuxHub should be able to revoke it and issue a replacement without publishing a new customer-facing file location.
Replaceability is not a complete security system. The production design also needs authentication, least-privilege permissions, file-version control, activity records and a defined response when access is misused. Because the public LuxHub demo contains only fictional sample information, these controls must be production-tested before they are described as live.
Keep identities separate from the technical decision
The specialist usually needs the technical brief, clarification route and authorised project contact channel—not the customer's personal email, phone number or social accounts. Withholding direct contact information helps keep questions, files, scope decisions and approvals in the project record. The customer likewise does not need the freelancer's private contact details to assess a technical response.
This separation does not mean anonymous or unaccountable work. LuxHub should know the approved account behind each action, while the parties communicate through the protected project workflow. Identity may still need to be disclosed when law, contracting, insurance or the project itself requires it; the platform should state that exception rather than promise absolute anonymity.
Email alerts and the project board should lead to the same controlled preview
LuxHub may email an approved freelancer when a compatible project matches the freelancer's skills, work preferences and availability. That email is an alert and entry point, not the project itself. It should lead to the relevant first-party project board or protected preview after account access, while approved specialists can also browse compatible work from the private board without waiting for an email.
The preview should show the brief, supplied-material summary, effort, deadline and pricing model before a response. For a Fixed Bounty project, an eligible specialist may accept the displayed price after review. For an Open Quote project, an eligible specialist proposes a price and delivery time. A project does not necessarily offer both routes, a proposal is not an acceptance, and the freelancer may decline unsuitable work. Joining LuxHub does not guarantee approval, projects, selection, income or immediate work.
An Egypt-based freelancer should add local handling checks
A DIALux freelancer working remotely from Egypt may receive a brief created in another language, time zone or contractual environment. Before opening the raw package, confirm the reporting language, permitted devices or storage locations, deletion requirement, file-transfer restrictions and the time zone used for expiry and delivery. Do not assume that a worldwide workflow makes those details universal.
The same checklist is useful in any country. A specialist should decline or pause when the confidentiality terms are unclear, when a file requests access outside the protected channel, or when the supplied material appears to include personal or restricted information that is not needed for the lighting calculation.
A quick decision check before you join
- 01Identify the access purpose
Confirm whether the files are for suitability review, quotation, accepted delivery or a controlled clarification.
- 02Read the project-specific terms
Check permitted use, sharing limits, retention, deletion and any project or legal exceptions before access.
- 03Inspect the minimum preview
Use the structured brief and supplied-material summary to judge fit before requesting unnecessary raw documents.
- 04Use only your private account
Do not forward access links, reuse another specialist's session or move the discussion into personal contact channels.
- 05Check expiry and revocation
Know when access ends and how LuxHub can replace or revoke a compromised private link.
- 06Pause when information is unclear
Raise a protected clarification before downloading, accepting or quoting when confidentiality and scope conflict.
Questions freelancers ask
Are LuxHub confidentiality and protected-file controls live today?
The public specialist portal is a fictional demo and the displayed specialist agreement still requires legal review before live onboarding. The safeguards described here are production requirements and pilot design principles, not a claim that real confidential project files are currently available.
Can a DIALux freelancer see the customer before accepting a project?
The intended workflow prioritises a non-identifying technical preview and protected clarification route. Direct customer contact information should stay withheld unless a verified legal or project requirement makes disclosure necessary.
